3.5 Typical shojo --fan girl goes on housekeeping gig and it ends up being her favorite idol but he has anxiety/depression ? almost a split personality. She helps him build confidence --meet and greet; buying clothes etc... He might like her but she doesn't think that would be possible.

Very cute! I love how Gloomyhara is forced to do positive affirmation about himself thanks to Utage who is an absolute wacky gem. However, the plot does get repetitive to the point of nearly getting stale. Fingers crossed, the next volume offers something new and exciting!

(Thank you to both Netgalley and Viz Media for an ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.)
I had such a good time with this manga! An idol with self-esteem issues, and his die-hard fan that won't let him sulk make for a really funny and cute combo. I think a lot of my students and friends would also enjoy this manga, as idol groups have continued to become more and more popular with the general public.
I really enjoyed this first volume, and it definitely made me interested to continue on and see where the plot leads this duo :).

This digital ARC was obtainable via NetGalley for an honest review!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be around your favorite celebrity? In "Tamon's B-side, vol. 1" Utage Kinoshita ends up being a housekeeper for Tamon. There she finds out Tamon's true personality. This manga showed us how fans can treat "idols" as a religion and not just purely entertainment. Tamon was very cute despite his highly insecure and self-deleting traits.

I did not have high expectations for this volume because idol stories aren't really my thing. However! I was pleasantly surprised. I thought the dynamic between Tamon and Utage was hilarious. I was just smiling and laughing throughout this volume.

Chapters 01 - 04: This looks like another really interesting series by Yuki Shiwasu and I look forward to getting to know Tamon and Utage better as the series continues.

Didn't realize this was the same author as Takane and Hana, but now that I know the comedy is definitely the same. This was a fun read and it's just pure delulu, idol stan, self-insert ridiculousness. A girl who's a huge fan of an idol ends up being his housekeeper and is helping him gain self confidence and he tells her that he cares about her and she's special to him?? The dream for any idol fan lol.

I liked this for the most part. I do think that Tamon's personality switch can be a little too much, but the relationship is pretty cute. I am curious about how the story would progress. I would assume that Tamon would gain confidence in himself and they'd end up together, but I wonder what other things will happen in between that. Saying all that though I don't think I actually care that much to find out myself. Maybe when the story is complete, but right now, although I liked what I read, I don't see myself caring enough to continue.
