I really love this series! This installment leans more into the absurdism of the world Lemming has created, making it less plot heavy than book one but much funnier. Still, it had some pretty good thematic work around consent, and the over-the-top-ness of it all really worked for me. It reminded me (in a very good way) of Discworld but with the added benefit of smut, and I was here for it. Overall, I do think I preferred book 1, but its a close thing, and I'm super excited for book 3 to come out later this year!

I stopped reading one of my current reads to pick this up because I had the strongest craving for Kimberly Lemming and I NEEDED to read this book.

The craving is satisfied and I was reminded, not that I forgot but still, how much I love this author, their writing style, this world, and these characters. It is SO MUCH FUN. I freaking loved it and I  am absolutely going to pick up the last couple books soon because a new one is coming out soon.

The best magical, hilarious, sexy, quick, easy read. I bow down to the Queen that is Kimberly.

I was surprisingly disappointed by this one! “That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon” was one of my favorite monster romances of last year so I was shocked that this one didn’t do it for me.

The premise was cute but I thought the plot was lacking in a lot of ways.
Like I’m very confused about the talking sword. She comes out of nowhere with no backstory or explanation, then gains the ability to wield herself out of nowhere somehow, saves the day, then just gets treated very flippantly at the end, like “Oh yeah and she’s still around I guess. Still floatin’ around somewhere.”

And I’m sorry, the villain is defeated (although I’m still fuzzy on how the jellyfish monster in the lake is defeated) because Brie grosses it out with descriptions of the omegaverse? That is just… I’m sorry, that’s really bad.

Ok first of, this was beautiful and stunning etc.
But. There are some parts of the world that do not make sense, mainly because the author seemed to have mixed some of our modern day elements into this story (which is very different and made it seem unfitting). I have to admit that that had its own charm (and very much added humor and such to the story), but i just wanted this to be noted.
also: did i just skip some parts or did the male main character just never confess his feelings / love?? He never says "i love you" to the FMC and sure, she ASSUMED, but no confirmation on his side.

And this is a personal preference i guess, but the constant presence of alcohol. They were talking about drinking, or drinking all the time it felt. In a similar way to modern day ppl having a beer or glass of wine after work to "wind down" as is they were not showcasing signs of addiction...
