I picked this one up first not realizing it was the second in the story. I was able to piece together enough of what was going on to understand, so kudos there.

This is a cozy, fast-paced read. There were a few things I was kinda meh on, but the pace of the book meant I could easily move past them and on to whatever came next. For the most part, the stakes were pretty low and I appreciated that. And then suddenly the stakes shot up and I didn't expect that, but it all worked out so I'm not complaining.

I actually read the smut in this one. I normally skip outright or skim it at the very most, but this story's smut fit into the story in a way I didn't mind (your mileage may vary).

I adore Felix as a character. He is adorable. Brie is super cute. I love them both and I enjoyed watching them be cute and hilarious together.

Love this book and series, but it does depend a little on you having read the first book. It's also just slightly too fast paced for me, just barely. Otherwise, adore it.

Another LOL magical romance that I'm adding to my "reread when I'm sad" pile. I liked this book both more and less than the first. This one felt cozier, had less fast-paced half-detailed world building, and had some fantastic smut, and it's actually one of my first werewolf romances (his wagging tail was such a highlight). I'm so happy my favorite talking sword was in this one (you have to read the novella in between these books to understand Alexis). I didn't feel as connected to this couple as I did in the first book, I didn't love the insta-love (yes he imprints and gets hit with a love potion, but she falls a little too quickly for my taste), and there was some dubious consent throughout the book. The ending suddenly felt much larger than a cozy romance and that was kind of a shock, but it wasn't too bad. Overall a fun story and I can't wait to keep going with the series (keep writing these books for every character in this world please and thank you).

Not just smut, but quality smut with a plot—and we love that! It’s funny, action-packed, and lighthearted.
