Another dreamily written, wonderfully imagined world with amazing characters. I had one complaint: one, the treatment of Dora by Anne and Marilla. They love and care for her, but several times they mention how they love her less than her brother Davy, who is quite frankly, a spoiled brat. He has little remorse and empathy, and he's characterized so much better than Dora. I think Montgomery shows Anne's lack of imagination in underestimating Dora, but there's five books to go, so we'll see. Also, there's racism of the times present in this novel and the past, like Davy insisting on a feather to act like an Indian. Canada's reprehensible past and present relations with indigenous people is pretty weighty.

Even less plot than the first book, but still a delight to read. It’s a joy getting to see Anne grow up, and I love her more than ever (much like Gilbert ❤️❤️). The descriptions of nature, poetry and love are gorgeous and make this a perfect springtime read.

I love Anne of Green Gables so much....don't know what I will do once I've plowed through all 8 books.
