Book 27 / 30 days challenge
I had so much fun!!, I couldn't sleep even tho I had to get up at 7, so I started this at like 2 am and didn't want to put it down, at like 4 I had to force myself to sleep and then I kept reading while waiting for my dentist appt and it was just fun.
I read some reviews before reading it, some bad and some good, and I feel like the bad reviews lied to me kinda? They make the MC way more annoying that she is, like the plot was a bit lacking in certain aspects but that doesn't mean she is annoying lol. And the romance is not that bad bc there is barely any?
Also this book made me want to continue the series right away and that almost never happens!

3.5⭐️ This book was a great introduction into this new world with these magical elements. This is a YA fantasy set in a world with magic/sorcerers in these cool buildings.

This book has an "Avatar the Last Airbender" feel to it which I really love. The story was enjoyable with a forbidden love / slow burn romance, it was easy to fall into.

A very enjoyable elemental story. I really enjoyed the characters though the ending caught me off guard and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. However, the rest of the book was very enjoyable.

If you start this series, you will want to finish all 5 books. Valla and Aldrich are great characters. Valla is slightly more developed than Aldrich initially, but you learn more about him in the subsequent books.

I'll eat up anything with elemental magic, but overall I really wish this series had gone a different direction.
This first book is a hardworking library apprentice x dark and mysterious crown prince. She's learning about her newly found incredibly rare magic through letters and then in person with him. It's a super awesome concept, but this book made me mad so many times. And that describes how I feel about the whole series.
Trigger warnings for this book: he pushes her off a roof and she gets seriously hurt, minor character death, imprisonment, death and blood, equivalent of the Fire Nation is trying to conquer the world, fuck the people in charge, not eating enough
