I actually think that, besides book 2, this is one of the better written bridgerton books. It was full of genuinely likeable characters (mainly the female lead, gregory is aggressively adequate) and really leaned into the plot. Less heavy on the physical romance, but I honestly didn't miss it with how interesting the story was.

The second epilogue was much more dark than I anticipated, but, as always, you can expect a happily ever after.

On the Way to the Wedding- 3.5⭐️ 2.75🌶️

A funny thing happened ...

Unlike most men of his acquaintance, Gregory Bridgerton believes in true love. And he is convinced that when he finds the woman of his dreams, he will know in an instant that she is the one. And that is exactly what happened. Except ...

She wasn't the one. In fact, the ravishing Miss Hermione Watson is in love with another. But her best friend, the ever-practical Lady Lucinda Abernathy, wants to save Hermione from a disastrous alliance, so she offers to help Gregory win her over. But in the process, Lucy falls in love. With Gregory Except ...

Lucy is engaged. And her uncle is not inclined to let her back out of the betrothal, even once Gregory comes to his senses and realizes that it is Lucy, with her sharp wit and sunny smile, who makes his heart sing. And now, on the way to the wedding, Gregory must risk everything to ensure that when it comes time to kiss the bride, he is the only man standing at the altar ...

✨My Opinion✨
I finished this book just in time for the Julia Quinn author event in Columbus today!

When there are 8 books in a regency romance series, sometimes plots and tropes get reused. This book was the last in the series and set up entirely different from the rest of the series. The prologue captured my attention right away.

The book features falling for the wrong girl first, blackmail, treason, scandal…

Gregory didn’t have the temper issues his older brothers did. I appreciated that, but where he was decent, Lucy’s uncle made up in misogyny.

I actually really enjoyed Lucy and her make no waves practicality. Her response to everything was so realistic and time period appropriate.

The last half of the book was drama filled and I lived for the messiness.

I don’t love romances where one of the main characters is ‘in love’ with someone else and has to realise who is right in front of them but I did really enjoy this. I do think Lucy needs better friends though.

Not the worst Briderton book by far but multiple 'I'll have to muzzle you' comments ect towards the women in the book.
