This is the second time I read Carissa's books and it definitely won't be the last! Safe to say she's my new auto-buy author!
This book is remarkable, it's so hard to put down cause the story really suck you in!

I love everything in this book, great plot idea, gorgeous writing style, epic battle scenes, loveable characters and fascinating world building!
This book is quite lengthy with 500+ pages but the short chapters and fast pacing makes me keep flipping the pages and I didn’t realize I was already near the ending.

I absolutely love the slow burn romance between the two main characters – Max and Tisaanah. I love how the author show how they started bonding with one another where they share their backstory, their traumas, their strength and weakness.
I admire the two of them for overcoming all those horrible things they went through. I’m rooting for them to fight anything together as the series goes!
(I’m also hoping for more spicy scenes in the next book as well!)

The story is far from over cause it’s just the beginning of something big that is still unknown, that epilogue at the end is definitely unexpected and I’m glad I have the 2nd book ready to read!

Overall, this is a great start for a fantasy series. It’s very well written and filled with lots of emotions. Highly enjoyable, entertaining and recommended for fantasy romance lovers!

Before reading this book I suggest to check the trigger warnings first cause this book has dark topics such as rebellion, wars, betrayal and revenge.
