Feral is the Beast by Nisha J. Tuli
5.0
Feral is the King was my second ARC read for Nisha, but I've read all of her books, and this is easily one of my favorites. It takes a dark turn from some of her other series and in the best way possible. Keep a bucket of ice next to you, you'll need it.
Into dark romance? Curses? Witches? Fairy Tales re-imagined? And even some enemy-to-lovers action? It's all twisted together in a dark bed of pleasure and spice in this novel, which is 100% focused on the two main characters.
I haven't read a dark romance I really enjoyed in some time, and this was precisely what I needed. In Nisha's world, the visual landscapes are always accessible and beautiful to imagine. Feral is the King was darkly beautiful, a haunted gothic world.
I'm not big into knowing how magic works or too much magic in general. You tell me the basics, and that's all I really need. That was present here, but I also really enjoyed the magic. The connection to the tattoos was inspired and also made an excellent setting for forced proximity and intimacy.
Loved this story. Looking forward to more in this series.
