I feel supremely average about this book. There were parts that I really liked and parts that I would have preferred stayed in Lucy Score’s mind and not on the page.
As usual, a few thoughts:
- why are all of the men in her books so aggressive and why do they all have daddy issues?
- Ally was a great lead. She had a strong personality and made some pretty smart decisions (and also some bad ones but who doesn’t?)
- I appreciated the way these two handled their emotions maturely early on. Did it last? No. But their first conversation about their attraction to each other was refreshing compared to other books where they’re just obnoxiously blind to everything)
- the scenes with Ally’s father were so sad but so real and difficult
- I loved the Devil Wears Prada comparisons
- most of my issues are with Dom and his controlling attitude. Having money doesn’t mean you should just buy another person’s affection - even if you know it’s more than that. He should have respected Ally’s wishes more.
