This was a fun friends-to-lovers romance that was mainly character-driven and had lots of feel-good moments. But ultimately, I was disappointed?
Friends-to-lovers can be such a delightful trope when done well, but I found myself a bit bored at times when reading this. The main characters spent a lot of time dancing around their feelings for each other, but this didn't really serve to build any tension or create any angst (not until the very end anyway).
The stakes felt too low, and it would have been better to see them get together sooner and have the book be shorter. Instead things felt drawn out for no reason. There were definitely some fun and entertaining moments (I'll never forget the term "sugar walls"), but on the whole this felt a bit one-dimensional for me.
