I am so glad I picked this one up as I was debating if this would be for me or not - and it absolutely was. This is the kind of weird and unsettling horror that I'm into and I just had such a great time reading this book.
My favourite part was definitely the beautiful writing and if I was an annotator, you best believe this book would be full of highlighter and tabs. That is what makes it so impressive as a debut, and I will definitely be keeping an eye on what else Julia Armfield publishes in the future.
Even though this is a slow paced book, I could not stop thinking about it whenever I managed to put it down, always wanting to keep turning the pages. I got so connected to these characters in such a short page count.
I personally learnt a lot about oceans and seas as this isn't something that has ever peaked my interest before, but I think if you have a real love for this topic you would enjoy this book even more.
