One Last Shot by Betty Cayouette
2.5
This was the May 2024 Afterlight (Illumicrate) pick so I didn’t have this on my radar, and unfortunately it’s one I have unhauled after finishing. Although I will say the special edition was stunning!
I just found myself not wanting to pick it up, because of low interest in the characters, so it took me a month to read. It has both dual timeline and dual POV, and for me it was just too much swapping around with narrative, I think I actually much preferred the past timeline and their young romance. I didn’t relate to the characters whatsoever, but I still found their romance convincing.
There’s quite a lot of miscommunication in this one all throughout the story, which I know isn’t for some people, and I found it frustrating at points.
I think I’m rating One Last Shot 2.5 stars. It was by no means a poor romance, it was more my personal enjoyment and taste which lowered my rating.
