Wicked is the story before the Wizard of Oz. When thinking of Wicked, the musical definitely comes to mind first. But it was actually a book series! I read this knowing it was going to be different to the musical and it’s important to separate the two when going in. This one is darker overall, but it’s still good and mild in comparison to what is considered ‘dark’ nowadays. I quite enjoyed this book and kept turning the page. I liked the continual story from when Elphaba was born all the way through until her death. It helped me gain an insight as to why she behaved the way she did. This has definitely got me excited to watch the movie!
