When She Was Me by Marlee Bush
3.0
Huh??? This one perplexed me a bit. I listened to the audio book and it was hard keeping track of the different characters. While the storyline was intriguing, it was just too slow for me. I was halfway through and still no real idea where it was going. I had always suspected Sarah because all the events started happening after she arrived. And I was curious about the “before“ because it never actually said whose perspective that was coming from. It was clearly a sibling witnessing their psychopathic sister evolving, but something felt off. I certainly was not expecting it to be an entirely new character and Sarah‘s memories of her childhood with Emily. I didn’t really enjoy the characters and Sarah believing it was her responsibility to change her sister grated on my nerves. I like the idea and the plot twist, but overall it fell short.
