This book is really slow with a lot of telling instead of showing and almost no action. 
For a mystery with investigators Eve does very little investigating more following tips from others. No reasoning or looking for clues. 
A personal struggle was the names. There is an Eve(lyn) the main character but also her grandmother Evelyn and both are called this by different people in the story.
