The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
mysterious
3.0
Okay I fear that I have missed the boat on this bookðŸ˜
The Silent Patient did have me hooked and it was a very quick read, with a great audiobook experience too. I did enjoy the set-up, but the big reveal wasn’t strong enough and was way too predictable after I’ve read so many psychological thrillers. If I read this when it was released or was new to this genre, I definitely would have enjoyed it more.
I can’t say I particularly enjoyed the writing style overall, and I don’t know whether I just didn’t enjoy the character’s perspectives, or whether this was the author’s personal beliefs, but some word choices made me feel uncomfortable for instance.
I do think it is a great accomplishment for a debut novel, and whilst I’m not rushing to pick up another book by Alex Michaelides, if a new release comes out with an interesting synopsis I could see myself giving him another shot. I’m glad to have ticked this popular book off my TBR.
