A sports romance where there is SO MUCH baseball and much less romance (until later in the story)

But honestly, I was loving it. Gene and Luis are two really strong main characters and I love that we get a glimpse into both of their journeys through the sport while still mainly focusing on the present and future rather than dwelling on the past.

I admittedly don’t know a ton about baseball (a few seasons of childhood tee ball are not the same 😂), but this book made it easy to follow. Although, if you don’t like baseball much or don’t care about sports in general, maybe find a different sports romance because they are literally playing baseball all. the. time.

One of my favorite parts of this book? The fact that the conflicts were very real adult issues that people face when discussing careers and futures together. There was no miscommunication trope, it was all just two guys trying to navigate their lives in professional sports and facing the potential judgement from the public. It was cute, it was fun, it had some spice. All around a good time.
