This novella is a cute addition to the Powerless story for people who were charmed by Adena and wanted more of her story during the trials. ALSO if you're like me and forgot everything about Powerless and need a refresher before jumping into Reckless, this will do a great job of reminding you of some of what went down in book one, at the very least reminding of the Elite vs Ordinary breakdown.
I'm going to be honest, I feel like this story didn't really give me a lot, but it was cute and I do love seeing Adena and her bubbly personality in the face of all that was going on around her. PLUS the love story with Makoto was pretty cute and makes me interested to know how Makoto might figure into the story in Reckless??
But also... where I was excited to get Adena's POV during certain events of her life (aka

when she gets thrown in the dungeon and later thrown into the arena

) I feel like it was kind of skipped over and was told almost in a past pov of like "this just happened to me" rather than getting to live it with her...
