I've been highly anticipating this 2024 release and managed to get the first hold from my local library. I read it the same day I picked it up but overall I am disappointed with the plot. It was lacking mystery, lacking thrilling elements, it was much more a contemporary fiction work centring feminism.
I really did like the mixed media elements, there was genuinely every type in this book, Reddit, Twitter, emails, text messages, podcasts, news reports, etc. I really liked how many different viewpoints that were offered.
In terms of the characters I really don't know if anyone was supposed to be likeable, I certainly didn't find them to be, so I wasn't as invested in the plot. The mystery of the girls disappearing, who is telling the truth between Cole and Mel, it was all so bland.
This definitely isn't successful as a mystery thriller, I think it would be better off shelved under contemporary fiction and it would be more successful in finding the intended audience.
