The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen

5.0

I was enthralled by this book.

Enemies-to-lovers trope? Uh, yeah, count me in! But truly, this book took a beloved trope and made every cliche of it count. You could feel the chemistry between leads Lara and Aren. I really appreciate there being alternate POVs between the two leads as it helped to develop each individual arc and deepen their characterization on page. For Lara especially, given to certain actions taken, having her POV allows us to sympathize and understand her. At least, I never once vilified her. I only hoped for the best for her throughout every twist and turn.

The conflict in the plot (and romance) helps to layer the story, the conflict pushes it forward and develop the high-risk stakes involved. You will be hooked to the story from the start, and luckily once it ends there's a sequel waiting.
