Rock Bottom Girl by Lucy Score
4.5
4.5 stars for this wonderful small town romance. It reminded me of my own small town south central pa town.
A few thoughts:
- Wow Jake is the perfect male lead
- Marley is a good character, BUT her “tragic backstory” and subsequent midlife crisis was blown out of proportion and just unrealistic - for someone to hold onto grudges from high school for 20 years is extreme and ridiculous
- Everything that had to do with Coach Marley and the soccer team was beautiful. The team was precious and, while dramatized for the story, not far off from the behaviors of a real soccer team.
- DONKEY BASKETBALL 😂 I’m still crying at how funny that would have been. And also it’s absolutely something a town like that would do.
- The Fake Dating trope was done beautifully
- Maybe I don’t totally hate romance epilogues because these two epilogues were cute and I actually liked them.
- There were so many little callbacks to small town treasures and things that just made me smile randomly.
