Sitting Pretty: The View from My Ordinary, Resilient, Disabled Body by Rebekah Taussig
5.0
I cannot tell you the last time I read a non-fiction book - it might have been the entire cat encyclopaedia I read when I was 12. But when this book popped up on my Scribd recommendations sometime in late June I was really interested in listening to it, and decided I'd bump it up my TBR list to read it before Disability Pride Month ended.
This is a collection of essays about the author's life, and the audiobook is narrated by the author (which she did a fantastic job with. I'm always so impressed at authors that narrate their own books). Rebekah talks about her experiences as a child, her dating life, her career teaching teenagers (truly anyone that works with teenagers is a Saint), her struggles with intersectional feminism and finding accessible housing, and dealing with other people's discomfort or helpfulness. It's a fantastic book and I highly recommend it.
