Part of me loves that each of these are stand alone novels, but another part of me was so, so grateful to get to spend more time with Christopher and Kade. I loved seeing Nancy again, too, and wish it had been for longer. I find the compass and discussion of world composition particularly interesting. I've been resisting looking up people's renderings of the compass in fear that I'll somehow accidentally get spoilers. Even when they don't match my own identity and experiences, I love seeing diverse peoples being heroes and their experiences with society recognized as valid. Maybe eventually I will see myself represented or a world described that sounds like my true home.
