Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas
5.0
"I'll be your oyster."
It was then I knew Tom Severin won my heart.
But as charming and suave as dear Tom was, none won me quite as over as our gorgeous titular heroine Cassandra did.
She is kind, wise, and so generous-- desiring to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Selflessly looking out for others. While dreaming of a simple life filled with love.
Enter Tom Severin who will grant a woman any dream, but love.
Tom was such a fun character to read about-- he may be the most intelligent mind in a room, but damn if his perspective at taking things literally doesn't lead to some humorous obliviousness. He has to learn just to how feel. How to be human and allow his heart to carry more than 5 emotions. Luckily, Cassandra is a very good teacher. She is looking for love, he doesn't think it exists, the makings of a perfect complement, no? With time and patience, Cassandra is determined to melt Tom's frozen heart so he can see the merit in a little feeling called love.
Their romance is such a beautiful read. One thing I immediately love is how dazzled Tom is of Cassandra. Here's a girl many see as nothing more than empty-headed, with nothing to offer other than her beauty. Tom sees her beauty, but also sees her generous heart and her wise mind. He consistently ensures she knows her value and that she always has a choice in any decision. His high respect for her was so gratifying to read.
This is a steamy, sweet read, I felt immediately immersed and only lamented once the story was over. I wasn't ready to let go of it so soon. But it's a story I aim to revisit again in the future.
