Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
4.0
Yadriel struggles to be accepted by his family and those within his community. As a young trans man, he has to deal with incorrect pronouns and being called by his deadname. Worse, he has to prove he is worthy of being a Bruja, something no one believes is possible because in this world women are gifted with one type of magic and men another. Yet, Yadriel has never demonstrated the healing ability possessed by his mother and grandmother. His skills lie elsewhere.
With help of his best friend, he secretly performs the ceremony and risks the wrath of the Death Goddess. Hiding her answer to his question, Yadriel is soon tasked with helping a hyperactive ghost he decides is best hidden from the rest of the family. Add on a little murder mystery and you have the beginning of an intriguing plot.
I thought this was really interesting and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys paranormal YA.
