Yellowface by R.F. Kuang

5.0

So many emotions while reading this book, which is a testament to how good of a writer RF Kuang is. The main character, Junie Hayward/Juniper Song, is clearly unlikeable, but there were a few times I kinda rooted for her. I was appalled at myself and in awe at how RFK was able to elicit that reaction from me.

SpoilerThe ending felt rushed, but I understand that it leaves open the chance for the readers to formulate the rest of the story. What were the consequences of Juniper's actions after the events at the Exorcist steps? How did Mrs. Liu react? Will she have another face-off with Candice? So many questions!
