I loved this story. It had everything I like in books- magical realism/fantasy, deep friendships, humor, real-life problems (racism, family etc.), and they dealt with issues surrounding romantic relationships without that being the center of the story. I think a lot of people would like this book because it blends the fantasy and realistic elements so well that anyone who likes either genre would probably enjoy this even if they normally don't like the other genre (i.e. someone doesn't usually read fantasy but does like realistic ya or vice versa.) In fact, I'm not usually much of a realistic ya fan myself, but that's primarily because most of them are romance-centered. It also wasn't not overly predictable, which is important to me.
