Mini Audiobook Review: I FINALLY READ MY FIRST ABBY BOOK AND IT WAS SO GOOD!
All the hype around the book was very much warranted. This book was selected by my husband as part of my 12 books from my shelf challenge because he is a fan of Stuntman Mike. I thought lets kick start the challenge with this one and I'm so glad I did!
I was about 2 hours into the audio when I realized that this was a second in a series and I reached out to romance reader friends to confirm that I was okay to continue. I can attest that you do not need to read the first book (Part of Your World) in order to read this. The characters from the first book play a small role in this one.
There was just something about the characters that drew me in and I love their journey throughout this book. I love that Briana was a divorcee as I feel like we do not see many divorcee in books and her process of working through the fall out from the divorce and building herself back up. I just love how Jacob and Briana connected by writing notes to one another and leaving them for one another at work. It was such an intimate connection.
Jacob was such a fabulous MMC. You could tell he just loved Briana so much and especially in that last little bit of the book. My heart broke for him (and for her) during the hotel part (iykyk). He just was so selfless and will forever be connected to Briana's family with him being her brother's kidney donor. They just worked so well together.
Yes, this does have the miscommunication trope but it made me want to scream at Briana because Jacob wanted to date her for real very early on but she just thought it wasn't possible for him to be into her. And that moment at the end (once again iykyk), just made my heart burst with his proclamation of love for her.
Zachary Webber is becoming my favorite male narrator and he was perfect as Jacob. I saw he does the narration for her other books so I will be swooning over his voice when I go back. Kyla Garcia was also great at Briana. She felt really believable to me
I am looking forward to going back and reading the first in the series and then work through her backlist.
