The Future by Naomi Alderman
2.5
The concept here is so cool and I do think that some of the ending twists were really cool, but the majority of this book was quite frankly very confusing. I think I followed about 20% of what was being said. Clearly just not the book for me.
- This book is the definition of word vomit and "say it, don't show it" because it was ALL over explanation and not enough actually happening.
- There were so many chapters that jumped around with perspective and timeline and it was impossible for me to follow, even with the audio and physical.
- The island stuff was the coolest in my opinion, but then... well, the twists kind of throw all that off too.
- I truly feel like my brain is a melted pile of goo after this.
- The audio for this was excellent, and really helped me to not give up midway through. I think the narrators did a great job.
