🐁 Friends to Lovers
🐁 Opposites Attract

This book has been on my TBR for a while, so I’m glad I finally got to read it. I haven’t read an opposites attract in a bit, and this was exactly what I needed on that front. While being opposites in every way possible, Lark and Callum bring out the best in each other while being forced to confront the feelings that hold them back from what they truly want.

I like how grief and guilt are explored in this book in both characters. The deaths of family close to them make it difficult to come to terms with both what they want and need in their lives, and it was a nice journey to read about. Callum is confronted with death and grief every day for his job, whereas Lark is holding on to a death she feels immense guilt about. Them opening up to each other, working through their mental roadblocks, is an important story to tell because of how relatable it is, and I think it was done well.

The only thing preventing me from rating this higher is one of the side characters. I understand what his purpose was in the story, but it was so harsh and unnecessary at times that it almost caused me to not finish the book. I think there was a way to have him be as impactful without it being so difficult to read.
