Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge

5.0

This was glorious.

It was inspired by Little Red Riding Hood and Maiden without Hands, but only very, very subtly. If you think the original Grimm stories are bloody, you’ve got anything thing coming.

Rosamund Hodge is great at world building. She has such a way of writing that I could literally feel the Great Forest come alive around me. I understood the pull of the Wild Hunt in the way a forestborn or bloudbound would. I could almost smell the sweet scent of the damp forest.

I can only hope Hodge comes with such a novel again. Both Cruel Beauty and Crimson Bound, likely my last two books of 2020, have managed to lift my mood this strange New Year’s Eve.
