My friends, family, and students will tell you that I can't stop talking about Heartstopper! I just can't get past how truly, undeniably sweet it is! There are actually 4 graphic novels, one novella, and countless smaller comics (on webtoons). And of course, the Netflix series. Nick and Charlie are high school romance GOALS. As a solid nerd in high school (hello? I WAS Charlie Spring!), I never dated or attracted romantic attention. But Charlie is living the dream when his crush, Golden Retriever Nick Nelson likes him in return. And Nick is what we all wished jocks were really like- marshmallows with gigantic gooey centers! Their story shows how supportive love can be as they each confront their own challenges (Nick coming to terms with his sexuality and Charlie having a mental health crisis). In this story, love wins!
