Well, that was fun. Didn't think I would say that about a darker story, but calling this a dark ROM-COM is extremely accurate. This fit my dark sense of humor so well. Tatum is so snarky and sassy, yet is able to get everyone to fall in love with him, and also irritate one particular mafia boss. In typical Cora Rose fashion, the humor hits very well with the usual ridiculousness. And with the colorful cast of side characters, there is so much potential for this series. My only issue is how Anthony's sexuality is addressed. Now, sexuality is fluid, and labels are kind of dumb, but he's referred to as straight throughout the whole book even when him and Tatum start boning and having the feelings. Sorry to say my friend, but that's not straight. This perpetuates a problematic trope of GFY. Anthony can be whatever sexuality, but he's clearly not straight, and I just get bothered by the whole GFY thing. All that to say, though, I did really enjoy this story. The vibes were vibing right for me. This was an exact match to my personality, and I love that. I'm super excited for what the rest of this series will have to share because I was sad this book ended and want to hang out with these characters again. What's going on with sweet baby Angel? Will Bane get his own crazy story? What about big ol' Teddy bear? So many opportunities, and I'm so curious.
