Nails and Eyes by Kaori Fujino

3.0

My husband picked this out for me randomly at a bookshop so I didn't realise it was horror until seeing Goodreads. It is a short story collection with the title novella, Nails and Eyes, being the clear stand out of the three stories. It was deeply disturbing as promised and I think that when children are included in horror, I find it truly terrifying. I enjoyed Fujino's writing style which has been wonderfully translated by Kendall Heitzmann, and the graphic descriptions were well done. I think where all 3 stories lacked for me is the ambiguous endings, they were just too abrupt for me.
