Rhythm of War by Brandon Sanderson

Things got dark midway through this book. Not in a “grimdark” kind of way, more in an “all is lost” kind of way. I legitimately had a hard time reading through parts of it. I am very glad there are online wikis and summaries that let me “read” ahead to ensure that everything was going to be all right. (Or at least, if they weren’t going to be all right, to know it ahead of time and prepare myself for it.) That said, I really enjoyed the continued exploration of Shadesmar and the spren, as well as the extended members of Bridge Four. I also love how every character has such a unique voice. I thought the sections on exploring fabrials and light to be a little drawn-out at times, though I’ll acknowledge that it’s Sanderson doing his Sanderson best to give us science fantasy and very hard magic. Looking forward to reading book five when it comes out later this year.
