The House Across the Street: Totally gripping psychological suspense packed with twists by Jill Childs
4.0
Anna and Lily have been best friends since childhood and living across the street from each other has helped in cementing their unbreakable bond. Even the event of Anna’s brother Tim, hitting and killing Lily’s mother in a terrible car accident, has never changed their relationship. But things take a drastic turn when Lily’s father is brutally murdered inside his home across the street during a welcome home party for Tim.
Who could possibly hate Lily's father so much to murder him? Everyone will soon find out that there is more than one person who has a grudge for the old man and there are many with dark secrets….
Overall rating 4/5
The subtle hints as to what was actually happening or happened was intriguing. I enjoyed the build up of tension between all the different characters and kept asking myself what was the bond that Anna and Lily shared that made their actions so easily forgettable. Childs’ ability to mold seemingly various plot lines into one final conclusion that was filled with multiple twists was brilliant. The narration done by Kristin Atherton sucked me right into the story and made the characters come to life.
*Thank you to Jill Childs, Bookouture Audio, and Netgalley for the ARC copy. I am freely leaving my honest review.
