Helen Rappaport has an excellent narrative style, making her books a great gateway for readers looking to venture into non-fiction.
Of her books on the last days of Imperial Russia, I did find this one to be the least interesting, and would recommend her other books first. “Caught in the Revolution” covers the experiences of those trapped in Russia during the Bolshevik takeover. It’s a very grim period of history and made for a very grim book.
