Monstress, Vol. 5: Warchild by Sana Takeda, Marjorie Liu

An action-packed, exciting volume. The war between the human's of the Federation and the Arcanics has officially begun. This volume is entirely about the war and follows it during this leg of the battle, as Maika and her friends try to defend a city under siege with little hope. At times, brutal, I love how well this comic expresses itself through the artwork.

Political tensions are ever rising. This is the point of no return. Everyone wants a piece of this war and all are getting involved one way or another to be the last one standing.

I also loved how the characters are really starting to feel like a family. They're pulling together and working towards a common goal. Despite their differences, allegiances, and betrayals, they're all at a point now where they would basically die for each other even as they still pretend to not care, and I love it. Can't wait to read the next one.
