Fly With Me by Andie Burke
3.5
I have many thoughts so buckle up!
- The audiobook was excellent, except that the tone of voice used for Stella was irritating and made me feel like she was supposed to be annoying (she wasn’t, I loved her)
- Stella and Olive are two strong leads with strong personalities and each of their life stories has depth and meaning.
- FAKE DATING WOOOOO this is my favorite trope so I was set up for success. HOWEVER the round and round of feelings felt a little repetitive, more so than normal.
- Olive is so horny for the entire book. Like SO horny. It was kind of too much in the beginning but I guess I just got used to it?
- Okay but the spice was like REALLY good
- This book has such an excellent backstory of grief and the difficulties of long term care. I feel like it was handled very well in the way Olive and Stella handled things, with Derek as a great support character.
- This book could have been 3 stars because of the absolutely ridiculous “3rd act conflict” that was so beyond unnecessary it made me ANGRY
For those who want spoilers of what made me so mad: an ex comes into the picture and spends the entire book being jealous, manipulative, and truly vile. then she causes the entire conflict between Stella and Olive, despite the fact that there was plenty of other things going on that this conflict was completely unnecessary
