Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree

5.0

I have had Legends & Lattes on my TBR for months and I finally got a copy! I enjoyed this book just as much as expected, it fits the cosy fantasy genre perfectly.
The story follows an orc named Viv who decides she wants to leave her old life behind, and prove that she can enjoy a good, happy life without bloodshed. She discovers the unknown gem of coffee in a Gnomish realm and decides to bring it to the city of Thune. Throughout the book, the coffee shop is developed chapter-by-chapter, pretty much from the ground up, and a group of characters come together to show that friendship and determination really can achieve anything.
There are conflicts within the book so it isn't all 'fluff' but for the majority of the story it is just so heartwarming and truly enjoyable to read. I think if you prefer stories that focus more on the characters rather than plot, this book is definitely for you. I completely fell in love with this story, characters and the life messages in the book.
There is a romance that slowly develops but I found that it didn't overpower the story at all and liked it this way.
I would have happily read more and more of this story, it is just so delightful! I noticed there is another book, Bookshops & Bonedust, planned in the standalone series and I cannot wait to read more from Travis Baldree.
