The Ones We Remember by Katie Golightly

5.0

I love a second chance romance so much. I love this series so much. I love Katie’s writing so much! This was another gut punch (complementary) of a story and I loved every single second. I’m sure whatever I write next won’t make any sense because I seemingly can never get it together when I love a book…but just know this book is BEAUTIFUL and Colin and Scarlett are two beautiful people who love each other so much and I love THEM so much!

Like all of her books it was full of so many beautifully written things and like always she wrote everything with so much love and care. Both Colin and Scarlett’s journeys through grief, and how different they were, and how different Colin grieved compared to his family. The fact that they were both neurodivergent and how they dealt  and struggled with their individual needs together and separately. I LOVED this book so much. Also i know how much Katie loves it too and it just SHOWS!

The way Scarlett and Colin loved each other felt so special and tender. They found each other when they were SO YOUNG. And the way they broke up was terrible. But it was absolutely necessary for both of them. They did have such a good relationship, they communicated SO WELL, they had such a deep understand of each other that they couldn’t find anywhere else. The growth and the changes they went through while they were apart were what made it possible for them to be together again.

And listen this was a deep cut. But it was also SUCH A GOOD TIME! They spent so much time together being soft and sweet and dorky and so so awkward because of their neurodivergence before they even knew what that meant for them. All the little things too?? The fact that he always reminds her to drink water? The fact that he had a reminder in his phone for her birth control pills because she simply could remember?? And as adults they were also SO awkward and feeling heartbroken and confused. But seeing them work together for Theo?! That was the sweetest damn thing!!

Thank you so much to Katie Golightly and Love Notes PR for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
