The Song: Joke's On You by Charlotte Lawrence
The Tropes
🔪 friends to lovers
🔪 mutual pining
🔪 strong asf FMC
🔪 found family
The Characters
Sloane: what a kickass FMC y'all. Sloane has got to be my favorite FMC of this year. She has power and she knows it, yet she is humble enough to bee relatable to those of us that don't 🔪 for a living.
Rowan: what a simp and I adore it. I want my own Rowan for Christmas, please.
The Things I Loved
I cannot express how much I mean this entire fucking book.
The Things I Didn't Love
Orzo pasta reference. That has ruined pasta for me for the rest of the year.
The Final Verdict
I don't know what the fuck I expected going into this book, but whatever it was, I still was not prepared. And yet, I fucking loved this book. I fully intend on reading Brynne Weaver's entire backlog after this. Can I also request 1,000 copies of this book for Christmas and my (swiftly) upcoming 25th birthday?
