Furbidden Attraction by R. O'Leary
Did not finish book. Stopped at 35%.
Ok, I can accept a lot of nonsense and I was fully aware that a paranormal romance won’t be the best piece of literature in the world but my constant thought was "Wtf?". There’s a limit of bullshit I can tolerate but this book managed it to fill it very quickly.
A) Wtf are even labour laws in the USA? The moves that Louisa's boss pull feel utterly illegal to me and more like a bad plot tool to highlight how bad her life is.
B) Jack is supposed to be a himbo, I guess, but knocking someone out with a lamp … dude, wtf? Every other character is so unsympathetic as well or they change their behaviour within a second. Louisa is the worst when it comes to behaviour changes. One second, she’s whiny, the next one she’s sassy, then she’s trying to escape before she’s so horny that she’s basically staying because of it. I would try a lot to get home if someone kidnaps me but she’s going along with it after a short struggle.
C) I know that paranormal romances don’t offer much in world building but it feels extremely flimsy in this case. The author should have offered a bit more information to make everything more understandable.
