Funny Story by Emily Henry
4.0
First of all, a moment of praise for Julia Whelan, the narrator of the Audible audiobook for Funny Story. I had the hardcover of this book along with the audiobook and I didn't even read it physically once because I just enjoy Julia's narration SO much, she is a brilliant narrator.
This is my second Emily Henry book, and I really liked these two main characters and their banter together, especially the roommates storyline. However I did feel like their back stories and familial relationships were pretty heavy and it meant the tone of the book wasn't as joyous as I was hoping.
No spoilers but a choice was made by one of the characters, and whilst I do understand their intentions after they explained their reasoning, it just honestly let the book down for me hence it isn't a five-star book in my eyes. But it was very emotional and there were so many beautifully written lines that I would've annotated.
I will continue to read from Emily Henry in the future, as I also enjoyed Happy Place, but I'm crossing my fingers for a five-star book from her.
