TJ Klune is the KING of found family stories, and he delivers again in this remarkable re-imagining of Pinocchio. While HAP (Hysterically Angry Puppet) is the closest character to the little wooden boy of the classic tale, the sentient androids themselves all represent puppets being controlled by humans. Even after rebelling against them and taking control, the androids are still attached to the strings of wanting to BE like humans, most taking on the worst, most controlling parts of humanity. Except for a few, like Gio, who escapes into the woods and raises a human son (Victor) with compassion and kindness.
