I had heard many good things about this book going into Air Awakens. I was intrigued and decided finally to give it a go. Needless to say, I downed this in just over two days (in between classes and studying). Thrilling, complex but not overly so, told by a heroine who offers the promise of so much character development into a true warrior and all in all amazing character. And our secondary protagonist? While it seems he’s the standard bad-boy stereotype, I found him reaching beyond as much and becoming his own person I would gladly read more about. The writing at times is a bit iffy, with some strange word choices and placements, but it doesn’t hinder the narrative too greatly. All in all, I would most definitely recommend this one — now onto the second!
