I feel like the first half and the second half of this book felt completely different and thank goodness the second half saved it.

- For the first half of the book, I was kind of annoyed by the situation the characters had found themselves in - convincing someone to break off their engagement, breaking off said engagement, choosing to move in next door to the man who broke off your engagement - none of it made sense.
- But honestly the scene depicting Athena's major bout with depression was like a switch, turning the second half of this book into something rather beautiful.
- I am so blown away with the author's depiction of depression and the subsequent scenes of care provided by the pleasantly surprising Matthew. I was enraptured by that scene and truly loved everything that came from it.
- The third act breakup wasn't terrible. Messy and painful, but overall not the worst. Once again, a single ounce of proper communication would solve so many issues.
- I love Athena's slow but sure embrace of the community and the circle of friends she builds.
- The monster smut scenes had me howling, they were so random and chaotic but also fun.
