Take Me Home by Melanie Sweeney
5.0
This book was absolutely WONDERFUL. It made me feel so many things in the absolute best way. Frenemies to lovers on a roadtrip back to their hometown. There’s a snow storm and there’s only one bed, there so much family drama between them, and they both handle it so differently. I loved watching them slowly but surely become friends first, Ash really just forced his way in because that’s exactly what Hazel needed. And watching them, and particularly Hazel, realize that they have some fully in their corner was so beautiful. This was perfect and I simply cannot wait for anything and everything Melanie writes.
Hazel and Ash were perfect. They were fun and silly and also so so DEEP. They were just two people who kind of orbited each other for years, and then in just a week everything changed (despite Hazel’s best efforts). Their love was simultaneously so easy and so hard for them. Hazel didn’t think she was enough, she thought she was hard to love, she didn’t want to disappoint anyone, she didn’t want to make anything difficult. And Ash just wanted her. He wanted her to open up and be vulnerable and I loved that he was willing to wait for her to do it on her own.
I also loved that they both were able to get some resolution with their families. Hazel and her dad made my heart ache. But seeing them finally being able to make a connection and talk about what they want and needed was written so well. And Ash!! Just a boy who wants to make sure everyone’s okay!! I love him and his love for his family.
