A breath of fresh air! It’s my own fault for not reading as diversely as I should,  but this was my first diverse historical romance. I loved it! Seeing the new take on that time period was nice.

The author and FMC are Palestinian-American. The FMC is industrious and driven to make a life for herself. She’s incredibly smart and business savvy and tries to save an estate on the brink of financial ruin that she randomly inherits.

Only complaint is it was emphasized that she had never been with a man before, but their first time did not read like a first time.

  • Duke/merchant’s daughter
  • Virgin trope
  • Murder mystery??
  • FMC is 26 years old
  • Close proximity
  • Dislike/distain

Favorite Quote/moment:

She licked her lips. “The very idea is repulsive.”
His pupils dilated as he watched the movement of her tongue. “Nauseating.”
“We should keep as far away from each other as possible.”
“An ocean would not be far enough away,” he growled, “to relieve myself of the affliction of you.”
