The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young
5.0
Oh. My. God.
This book was everything. I cried, like the all-of-a-sudden it hits you hard kind of emotion. I loved this book from start to finish. It wasn’t necessarily a fast paced story that moves quickly, but the slower journey of understanding was painted so beautifully and I loved every second of it.
- The writing. It was so beautiful and atmospheric. The descriptions were so deep and it makes sense being that June is having such a hard time with reality and the things she sees and hears.
- Time. The whole concept of timelines and time travel. What could easily have been so incredibly confusing and messy was beautifully explained and worked out. I was worried I wouldn’t fully understand it all by the end, but it unraveled really nicely.
- This was such a unique, complicated, and twisted story. From the mystery of Nathaniel Rutherford and Susanna Farrow, and how their deaths impacted every character, to the utter gut-wrenching discoveries June makes along the way.
- SPOILER - By the end, I knew which choice June would make, but that didn’t make it any harder to say goodbye to the life the book had started with. I loved Mason and silently rooted for him for so long. But once June weaved herself so deeply into Eamon and Annie’s lives, it makes sense why she would choose them.
- SPOILER - I cried when she realized who Birdie was. Like it hit me about a second before she figured it out and I had tears in my eyes.
